Henrico County, VA — A fatal single-vehicle crash shut down parts of Staples Mill Road on Monday evening, following a tragic collision that claimed the life of one man.
According to the Henrico County Police Division, officers responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Staples Mill Road and Hungary Springs Road, where a vehicle had crashed into a utility pole. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, stating it will be made public once next-of-kin have been notified and proper verification has been completed.
The Henrico Police Crash Team is actively investigating the incident to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.
As a result of the collision, Staples Mill Road is closed between Old Staples Mill Road and Hungary Road. Hungary Springs Road is also closed from Olde West Drive to Cottesmore Lane. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes and avoid the area while emergency crews and investigators remain on scene.
