Henderson ISD Mourns the Loss of Kyla Henderson and Aubree Edney

HENDERSON, TX – Henderson Independent School District is mourning the tragic loss of two young lives, Kyla Henderson and Aubree Edney, who died in a car accident on July 28, 2025.

Kyla, a former HISD student, and Aubree, who was set to begin sixth grade this fall, were beloved members of the Henderson community. Their sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of classmates, teachers, and all who knew them.

“Our hearts are with the Henderson and Edney families, and with all who are grieving this heartbreaking loss,” the district said in a statement. “Kyla and Aubree will be remembered for the joy and light they brought into the lives of those around them.”

Though campuses are currently on summer schedules, HISD is offering counseling services to students, staff, and families affected by this tragedy. The district encourages anyone struggling with the news to seek support.

As the community comes together in sorrow, Henderson ISD joins in mourning and asks everyone to keep the families in their thoughts and prayers during this profoundly difficult time.
