Jackson Man Found Shot Dead in Driveway, Investigation Underway

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Jackson man, who was found dead in his driveway early Tuesday morning.

According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, deputies with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in the 5000 block of N. Silverton Street at approximately 2:11 a.m.

Upon searching the area, deputies discovered the victim—Dequon Hill—unresponsive and seated inside his vehicle, parked in the driveway of his residence. Hill was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:40 a.m. from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place later this week in Newberry to further determine the cause and manner of death.

Both the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the incident. No suspect information has been released at this time.
