Two Suspected South Carolina Escapees Captured After High-Speed Pursuit in Hart County, Georgia

HART COUNTY, GA — A high-speed pursuit ended in Hart County Tuesday after Georgia State Troopers intercepted a stolen vehicle linked to two suspected escapees from Union County, South Carolina.

Troopers from Post 52 Hartwell were alerted with a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a blue 2019 Ford F-150 reported stolen out of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Shortly after, a trooper spotted the vehicle traveling on Georgia Highway 77 near Georgia 51 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver, however, refused to comply, leading authorities on a pursuit through rural Hart County. The chase continued onto Georgia Highway 17, where the trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver), successfully ending the pursuit without further incident.

Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody at the scene. During questioning, the passenger made statements that led troopers to suspect that both individuals were escapees from Union County, South Carolina.

Authorities identified the driver as Devin Jake Fisher and the passenger as Nicklaus Chase Bevis.

The investigation is ongoing, and coordination with South Carolina law enforcement is underway to confirm escapee status and determine additional charges. No injuries were reported in the incident.
