CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in Clayton County, leaving the community shaken and multiple people in custody.
According to Clayton County Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater at Mt. Zion apartment complex, located in the 3100 block of Mt. Zion Road.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing multiple gunshots ring out in quick succession. Police quickly arrived and secured the area. While the number of those injured has not been officially confirmed, authorities described the incident as a double shooting.
In a swift response, three young men were seen placed in handcuffs and escorted into police cruisers. It is currently unclear what their involvement may be in the shooting.
Investigators are actively working the scene and speaking with witnesses to determine what led up to the violent exchange. Police have not yet released the identities of the victims or those detained.
At this time, no motive has been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether the victims and suspects knew each other.
