Tiffany Zamora, Jorge Garcia Jr. Among Five Killed in Recent San Diego Traffic Tragedies

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Authorities have released the identities of five individuals who tragically lost their lives in separate traffic-related incidents across the San Diego region over the past eight days. The deaths highlight a somber stretch of roadway fatalities, leaving families and communities in mourning.

Among the victims was 23-year-old Tiffany Zamora of San Diego. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, Zamora was behind the wheel of a sedan around 3:45 p.m. on Friday when her vehicle veered into the center median in the 2100 block of Citracado Parkway in Escondido. Her car collided with a tree, and she was rushed to Palomar Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Just a day later, 31-year-old Jorge Garcia Jr. of Alpine was fatally struck while crossing the street in Pacific Beach. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Kendall Street, where Garcia was hit by an eastbound SUV. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital.

These two fatalities were part of a string of deadly incidents across the region:

  • On Monday afternoon, 46-year-old Bisael Lopez Hernandez, a landscaper, was killed while working along Bonita Road in Bonita when a compact vehicle suddenly left the road and struck him. He died at the scene.
  • On Saturday just after midnight, 19-year-old Thom Nguyen lost control of his motorcycle on Interstate 5 near Balboa Park. After crashing into a barrier, Nguyen was thrown onto the freeway and fatally struck by another vehicle.
  • On July 22, 87-year-old Agustina Acosta of Chula Vista was hit by a pickup truck while walking in a parking structure on H Street. She was transported to UCSD Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities are continuing investigations into each of the incidents, and no further information regarding charges or contributing factors has been released at this time.

The recent wave of deadly accidents underscores the importance of vigilance and safety on roadways—for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. Community members are left grieving these tragic losses, as officials urge caution and attentiveness to help prevent further tragedy.
