TUCSON, AZ – The Tucson Police Department has identified Gregory Lynn Harris, 59, as the man who died following a pedestrian-involved collision on Wednesday night.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on July 30, near North First Avenue and Fort Lowell Road. Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle.
Harris was found at the scene with life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Tucson Police Department’s Traffic Detectives and Crime Scene Unit are actively investigating the case.
Preliminary findings indicate that Harris was crossing North First Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. Police confirmed that speed was not a factor, and the driver showed no signs of impairment.
Investigators have determined that the primary contributing factor in the collision was the pedestrian’s failure to use a designated crosswalk. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
