MARANA, Ariz. — A tragic car crash in Marana on the morning of July 29 has claimed the life of 34-year-old Marquis Jaquez, according to the Marana Police Department (MPD).
The incident occurred around 8:33 a.m. at the intersection of North Silverbell Road and North Finfrock Drive. Authorities reported that both a Nissan and a Tesla were traveling northbound when the Tesla attempted to change lanes. During the lane change, the Tesla struck the Nissan, causing the driver of the Nissan to lose control. The vehicle veered off the roadway and came to rest in a nearby wash area.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures. Tragically, Marquis Jaquez, the driver of the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene and cooperated with police. At this time, no citations or arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Marana Police Department is urging any witnesses or individuals with additional information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
