Melissa Guest Identified as Victim in Fatal Middleburgh Crash

MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. – New York State Police have identified the victim in a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on the afternoon of July 29 in Schoharie County as 49-year-old Melissa Guest, a resident of Jefferson, New York. The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 145 and Schoharie Hill Road.

According to investigators, the crash occurred when a vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Schoharie Hill Road from Route 145 and was struck by a northbound vehicle. The impact of the collision was severe, tragically resulting in the death of a front-seat passenger in the turning vehicle.

State Police confirmed the deceased as 49-year-old Melissa Guest, a resident of Jefferson, New York. Emergency responders arriving on the scene found Guest with serious injuries and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash, along with four additional passengers from the second vehicle, were transported to Albany Medical Center. Authorities report that all six individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

In response to the accident, a section of State Route 145 was closed for more than four hours to allow police and accident reconstruction experts to examine the scene and gather evidence.

At this time, the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet determined whether contributing factors such as speed, distraction, or impairment played a role in the crash.
