SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities have identified the two individuals killed in a domestic violence-related shooting over the weekend as a married couple: Michelle Booker-Stewart, 51, and Nathaniel Stewart, 57.
The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, July 26, when San Diego Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Timothy Drive in the Oak Park neighborhood around 9:45 a.m.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered Michelle Booker-Stewart with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. In a separate room, Nathaniel Stewart was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics with San Diego Fire and Rescue attempted to save Michelle’s life, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on evidence at the scene, investigators believe the shooting was a murder-suicide, with Nathaniel Stewart allegedly shooting his wife before taking his own life. No other individuals were present at the time, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The motive remains under investigation, and police are working to determine what led to the fatal encounter. It is not yet known if there was a documented history of domestic violence between the two. Detectives are interviewing family members, neighbors, and friends to better understand the couple’s relationship and any possible warning signs.
