CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Pinellas County community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Sgt. Greg Graff, a dedicated Pinellas County Schools police sergeant who died Wednesday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while on duty at Clearwater High School.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Graff collapsed unexpectedly while participating in indoor classroom training. Earlier that day, he had taken part in an active assailant response exercise, part of his ongoing commitment to student and staff safety. Emergency responders rushed him to Morton Plant Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at approximately 4:14 p.m.
Sgt. Graff was not only a respected law enforcement officer but also a deeply loved family man. He is survived by his wife, three children, and six grandchildren.
In a solemn tribute to his service and sacrifice, a procession departed from Morton Plant Hospital around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Sgt. Graff’s body was escorted to Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, accompanied by fellow officers and first responders.
Pinellas County Schools and law enforcement agencies throughout the region have expressed their condolences and gratitude for Sgt. Graff’s years of dedication and his lasting impact on school safety.
Funeral arrangements and public memorial details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
