SCRANTON, S.C. — A tragic single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a Florence County teen, officials confirmed.

According to Corporal David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Railroad Avenue near Willoughby Lane, just south of Scranton. A 2004 Chevrolet truck was traveling southbound when it veered off the roadway and struck a ditch.

There were three individuals inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The front-seat passenger, identified as 17-year-old Aden Jumper of Mayesville, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a backseat passenger were not injured.
