Shelia Walker: Richland County Woman Fatally Stabbed, Teen Suspect Charged

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred earlier this week on Faraway Drive as 56-year-old Shelia Walker.

According to Coroner Nadia Rutherford, Walker died on Tuesday after sustaining multiple stab wounds during an altercation. She was transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 2000 block of Faraway Drive following reports of a knife-related assault. Deputies arriving at the scene found Walker critically injured. The incident quickly led to the arrest of 17-year-old Trinity Goodwin, who is now facing adult charges for murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say the confrontation began outside the apartment and escalated indoors. Goodwin reportedly retrieved a kitchen knife, claiming it was in self-defense. It remains unclear if there was a familial relationship between Walker and Goodwin.

Deputies say they located Goodwin shortly after the incident based on witness statements. During questioning, Goodwin allegedly confessed to the stabbing. She has since been booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Shelia Walker is remembered as a woman whose life was taken far too soon, leaving her loved ones and the community in mourning. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death continues.
