Winston-Salem State University Mourns the Loss of Three Beloved Students

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share the tragic passing of three cherished members of our Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) family: Chaz Zoey Williams, Kharis McGee, and Quentin Glass. Their sudden loss has sent shockwaves through our campus community, leaving us devastated and struggling to process the absence of these remarkable individuals who brought light and life to all who knew them.

These students were far more than names on a roster — they were vibrant contributors to the heart and soul of WSSU. As scholars, leaders, and friends, each of them embodied the values of our Ramily through their compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication to community.

Chaz Zoey Williams was a radiant spirit known for their joyful presence and boundless positivity. With an infectious smile and an open heart, Chaz made every space warmer and every person feel seen. Whether mentoring fellow students, volunteering, or simply lending an ear, Chaz was a natural encourager who uplifted others through love, kindness, and action. Their legacy is one of hope, inclusion, and inspiration that will continue to echo across campus.

Kharis McGee, born September 23, 2002, in Monroe, North Carolina, transitioned peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 22. Kharis was a force of passion and perseverance. He approached life with an open mind and a big heart — always striving to grow, always leading with integrity. Through academics, student involvement, and quiet acts of service, Kharis made an impact that spoke volumes. His determination, empathy, and ability to bring people together will forever be remembered.

Quentin Glass brought calm strength and gentle leadership to those around him. Known for his thoughtful nature and steady presence, Quentin was a trusted friend, a deep thinker, and a true example of quiet resilience. He led by example — not with fanfare, but with a deep commitment to doing right and lifting others along the way. His humility, wisdom, and loyalty left a legacy of grace and strength.

As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we hold close the memories, the laughter, and the love shared with Chaz, Kharis, and Quentin. Though they are no longer with us in body, their spirits will forever be part of our Ramily. Their lives were powerful reminders of what it means to live with intention, kindness, and purpose.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of Chaz, Kharis, and Quentin. Our thoughts and prayers surround you. WSSU stands together — in grief, in remembrance, and in love.

May their legacies guide us forward.

Forever remembered. Forever cherished. Forever Rams.
