BRIGHTON, Ill. — The Brighton community is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Eric Ottwell, who passed away in a motorcycle accident on the night of his birthday doing something he loved deeply.
Eric, a proud resident of Brighton and an East Alton-Wood River High School alumnus, was known for his strong character, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. A disabled veteran, Eric carried with him not only the experiences of service but also the strength, resilience, and brotherhood that shaped who he was. His life was a testament to loyalty and kindness — always going out of his way for others, especially his children.
He leaves behind two beloved children, Noel and Eric Jr., both graduates of Southwestern High School. His daughter Noel is preparing to begin nursing school at SIUE this fall, pursuing a path inspired by compassion — a reflection of the values her father lived by every day.
