BECKET, Mass. – A tragic accident at Jacob’s Pillow, a renowned dance center and performance school in Becket, has led to the death of a staff member and prompted a multi-agency investigation.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office (BDA), authorities were called to the campus on George Carter Road just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1, following reports of a fatality. State Police detectives, along with the Becket Police Department, responded to the scene and confirmed the death of Kat Sirico, a production manager at the facility.

Officials with Jacob’s Pillow confirmed that the accident occurred outdoors on the campus grounds. In a public statement, the organization expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss:

“It is with profound sadness that Jacob’s Pillow reports that a tragic accident occurred outdoors on our campus this afternoon, August 1, resulting in the death of one of our production managers, Kat Sirico. There were no other injuries,” the statement read.

Jacob’s Pillow Executive and Artistic Director Pamela Tatge added:

“Kat was a Pillow alum and an essential and hugely devoted leader on our team. Their spirit, generosity, and dedication touched the lives of many. We are holding their family, friends, and colleagues in our hearts as we grieve together.”

Authorities have indicated there is no threat to the public, and the incident appears to be an isolated accident. An investigation is ongoing by the State Police, the State Medical Examiner, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
