Ian Garciay: Remembering a Life Lost Too Soon in Tragic Motorcycle Crash

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified Ian Garcia, 23, as the motorcyclist tragically killed in a crash on the far West Side of San Antonio.

The accident occurred just before noon on Thursday, July 31, at the intersection of Galm Road and Shoreline Drive, near Culebra Road. According to San Antonio police, an SUV was traveling south on Galm Road and attempting to turn left toward Culebra Road when Garcia, traveling northbound on his motorcycle, struck the front end of the SUV.

The impact of the collision caused Garcia to be ejected from his bike, landing over a fence into a neighboring backyard along Galm Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force injuries and ruled it an accident.

The driver and passenger of the SUV sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. Witnesses at the scene reported that speeding may have been a factor in the crash, although police have not filed any criminal charges at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
