OMAHA, NE – A chaotic and violent scene unfolded early Saturday morning in Omaha, as a shooting near 30th Street and Bedford Avenue left seven people injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Omaha Police Department’s Assault Unit.
Around 4:20 a.m. on August 2, officers were dispatched to the area following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire, along with a ShotSpotter alert that pinpointed a burst of gunshots in the parking lot of Kelly’s Liquor. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large, disorderly crowd dispersing from the scene.
Just minutes later, at 4:23 a.m., two gunshot victims arrived at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center. They were identified as Maurice Miller, 43, and Tareya Burton, 30. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
At 4:28 a.m., authorities responded to a crash near 36th Avenue and Lothrop Street. The driver, D’zhaun Tucker, 26, had been shot while reportedly fleeing the scene of the shooting. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed.
Shortly after, at 4:33 a.m., four more victims arrived at Immanuel Hospital, all with gunshot wounds. Police identified them as Havier White, 22; Maurice Brow, 31; Royce Jones Jr., 38; and Camron Jones, 21. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any suspect information.
