BARR TOWNSHIP, PA – A tragic vehicle accident early Sunday morning has left one person dead and three others injured in Barr Township, Cambria County. The Cambria County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are actively investigating the fatal crash, which occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Nicktown Hill Road near Brick Road Lane.
Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees remained on the scene as of 10:30 a.m. alongside the PSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist team, working to determine what led to the crash.
According to Lees, the accident involved four individuals traveling in a single passenger vehicle. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Among the survivors, one passenger was airlifted to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh for specialized treatment, while two others were transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown with injuries.
The roadway remained closed throughout the morning as first responders and investigators continued their work.
Cambria County 911 reported that multiple emergency units responded, including Nicktown and Spangler Fire Departments, and EMS teams from Veterans, Carrolltown, Hastings, and Ebensburg.
Further information will be released as the investigation progresses. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
