30-Year-Old Man Identified in Fatal Southwest Side Double Shooting

CHICAGO— Authorities have identified 30-year-old Edgar Arroyo as the victim killed in a double shooting that occurred Saturday night on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

The incident happened around 9:17 p.m. in the 3000-block of W. 37th Place. According to police, two men were standing outside when three unidentified individuals exited a vehicle and opened fire.

Edgar Arroyo sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and lower back. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed.

A second victim, a 57-year-old man, was shot in the left armpit. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

As of now, no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
