SPARTANBURG, SC — A devastating tragedy unfolded early this morning on Collins Avenue as gunfire tore through a home shortly after 4 a.m., taking the life of a 7-month-old baby boy.
Zymir Demarco Smith, just an infant, was struck in the neck by a bullet and rushed to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Zymir tragically died from his injuries.
A baby. Seven months old. Gone because of senseless violence.
This is beyond heartbreaking — it’s unacceptable. Zymir didn’t deserve this. No child does. The violence plaguing our communities has spiraled out of control, and the silence surrounding it is deadly.
If you know something, say something. This isn’t about snitching — it’s about saving lives. Protecting innocent children. Holding shooters accountable. Thoughts and prayers are no longer enough. It’s time to stand up, speak out, and demand justice for Zymir and every other victim lost to gun violence.
Anyone with information is urged to contact local authorities or Crime Stoppers anonymously. Don’t let silence be the reason another life is stolen.
Rest in peace, Zymir Demarco Smith. You deserved a full life, filled with love — not this.
