ROANOKE, Va. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in Southwest Roanoke. According to the Roanoke Police Department, 43-year-old Isaac Lamont Cunningham of Roanoke was pronounced dead at the scene following a report of gunfire in the 200 block of 12th Street SW.
Officers responded to the area after receiving a call about a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a man — later identified as Cunningham — outside of a vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, Cunningham was found unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police have not yet released any information regarding potential suspects, a motive, or whether the shooting was targeted or random. The area was cordoned off as investigators collected evidence and canvassed for witnesses in the neighborhood.
