It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Cohen Turner, 21, who died in a tragic flash flood early Sunday morning in Cleburne County, Alabama.
Cohen was returning from a night of fishing with his best friend, Detric, when their SUV was swept away by powerful floodwaters near Lake Wedowee. In the chaos, Cohen’s final act was one of pure love and selflessness—he saved Detric’s life, pulling him through the sunroof, helping him climb onto the roof of their vehicle, and pushing him to safety in a nearby tree before being swept away himself.
Cohen’s body was later found after the water receded. He drowned after doing what he had always done in life—putting others before himself.
Cohen was a devoted friend, a passionate fisherman, and a young man whose heart was bigger than words can describe. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Please keep Cohen’s family, friends, and the entire community in your thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. As we honor his memory, let us carry forward his legacy of loyalty, courage, and love.
Rest in peace, Cohen Turner.
