In Loving Memory of Professor David Mangelsdorf (1958–2025)

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of David Mangelsdorf, a beloved father, husband, brother, mentor, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old.

Professor Mangelsdorf was more than just a scientific mind—he was a guiding force, a passionate thinker, and a deeply compassionate human being. Known for his groundbreaking contributions to science, he lived with an ever-curious mind, constantly boiling with ideas and insights that shaped and inspired those around him. But even beyond his brilliance in the lab and classroom, David was a man of deep humanity.

To many, he was a mentor who nurtured not just intellect, but confidence and purpose. To others, he was a friend—one who could effortlessly pivot from deep discussions on science to the complexities of religion, and just as easily to laughter over a good joke. His presence was a balance of wisdom and warmth, seriousness and humor.

His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. The world has lost a visionary mind, but more importantly, we have lost a good man.

David’s legacy lives on not only through his scientific contributions but also in the hearts of those he inspired, challenged, and cared for.

Have a safe trip, my friend. You are deeply missed, and will never be forgotten.
