Peterborough Police Searching for Additional Suspects in Overnight Homicide

PETERBOROUGH, ON — August 3, 2025 — The Peterborough Police Service is actively investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, claiming the life of a 25-year-old Peterborough resident.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance in a parking lot near Monaghan Road and Cameron Street. Upon arrival, police learned that the victim and a friend had been walking in the area when they were confronted by a group of five youths. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed and the group fled the scene on foot.

Emergency crews rushed the victim to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries. One suspect is currently in police custody, while investigators continue to search for four other male youths, all believed to be under the age of 18.

A large section of the area was closed off for several hours as members of the K9 Unit, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) team, and the OPP helicopter conducted an extensive search. The roads have since reopened.
