Tragic Incident in Gulf Shores: Woman Dies After Vehicle Submerges in Retention Pond

GULF SHORES, Ala, On the morning of August 4, 2025, at approximately 11:17 AM, emergency crews from Gulf Shores Police and Gulf Shores Fire/Rescue responded to a distressing scene in the 3400 block of Gulf Shores Parkway. A vehicle had become partially submerged in a retention pond near the Freestanding Emergency Department.

First responders, along with nearby good Samaritans, acted swiftly and heroically—entering the water without hesitation as the vehicle continued to sink.

The driver was pulled from the vehicle and brought to shore, where emergency personnel immediately began life-saving efforts. She was quickly transported to the nearby Emergency Department.

Tragically, despite those efforts, the 50-year-old Foley resident was pronounced deceased.

Our deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time. The loss of life under such sudden and tragic circumstances is felt deeply across the community.

This incident remains under active investigation, and authorities will release further information as it becomes available.
