Alabama — August 4, 2025, tragedy struck in Gulf Shores as 50-year-old Tamara Prim Shoots, a resident of Foley, lost her life after her vehicle became partially submerged in a retention pond.
At approximately 11:17 a.m., Gulf Shores Police and Gulf Shores Fire/Rescue responded to the 3400 block of Gulf Shores Parkway near the Freestanding Emergency Department after receiving reports of a car in the water.
Upon arrival, officers, firefighters, and courageous passersby entered the pond without hesitation as the vehicle continued to sink. Tamara was pulled from the submerged car and brought to shore, where first responders immediately began resuscitative efforts. She was transported just yards away to the Freestanding Emergency Department.
Despite valiant efforts to save her, Tamara was sadly pronounced deceased.
The Gulf Shores Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Authorities commended both emergency personnel and community members for their quick and selfless actions during the rescue attempt.
Tamara’s loss is felt deeply by her loved ones and the Gulf Shores community.
