EDMONTON, AB – An autopsy has confirmed that the death of 33-year-old Theoren Ermineskin last week in West Edmonton was a homicide, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) announced.
On Friday, August 1, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers from the EPS West Branch responded to a report of a dispute at a residence near 81 Avenue and Briarwynd Court. Upon arrival, they found a male in medical distress. Despite life-saving efforts by EMS, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The EPS Homicide Section took over the investigation, and today, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Ermineskin died as a result of blunt force injuries. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Later that same day, police arrested 35-year-old Damian Ward and charged him with second-degree murder. Authorities confirmed that the deceased and the accused were known to each other.
The investigation remains ongoing.
