LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities have identified 36-year-old Brandon Stennett as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in the Westlake District, prompting an active homicide investigation.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division responded around 3:00 a.m. to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Westlake Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Stennett lying near the intersection with apparent gunshot wounds.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the victim’s identity as Brandon Stennett.
According to police, witnesses reported seeing a possible suspect fleeing westbound on Wilshire Boulevard shortly after the incident. At this time, no arrests have been made, and a motive has not been publicly released.
The West Bureau Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact LAPD.
