PACIFICA, CA — Authorities have arrested a driver following a deadly hit-and-run incident that took the life of 76-year-old Gloria Vasquez and her dog on Monday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Osborne Street and Haddon Avenue. Vasquez was crossing Osborne Street with her dog, outside of a crosswalk, when she was struck by a Honda Accord traveling eastbound.
Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Sadly, her dog also sustained severe injuries and later died.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Ever Marquez of Pacoima, allegedly fled the scene without stopping to assist. He was apprehended shortly after by officers canvassing the area who located the vehicle.
Authorities closed Osborne Street between Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Haddon Avenue to conduct the crash investigation.
