The close-knit Montauk community and New York City’s fashion scene are mourning the tragic death of beloved designer and entrepreneur Martha Nolan, whose body was discovered early Tuesday aboard a docked boat at the Montauk Yacht Club.
Suffolk County police confirmed that Nolan, 33, was found unconscious just after midnight. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The cause of death is still under investigation and will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Nolan — known professionally and socially as Martha Nolan — was a rising star in the world of fashion. Originally from Ireland, she moved to the United States at age 26 and quickly made a name for herself as a marketing consultant, entrepreneur, and founder of the summerwear brand East x East. “She was well known in the community. She was very friendly. Always smiling,” a member of the yacht club told The Post, adding that late-night screams were heard from the docks just hours before her body was discovered. “There’s going to be a lot of conversation out of this.”
Just last month, Nolan hosted a pop-up shop at Montauk’s exclusive Gurney’s Resort spa, celebrating the milestone with a TikTok video captioned, “Goals Achieved.” The video showcased her bright personality and signature summer designs — swimwear, resort wear, and accessories.
