ATLANTA — An active shooter incident is currently underway near the Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS, prompting authorities to issue urgent safety warnings. Officials are advising everyone in the vicinity to “shelter in place” as law enforcement responds to the scene.
According to sources from 11Alive and NBC News, a DeKalb County law enforcement officer was injured during the incident and transported to Emory University Hospital. Details regarding the nature or severity of the officer’s injuries have not been released.
Emory University officials took to social media, urging those on campus and nearby to “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” and to avoid the area entirely. The Emory College of Arts and Sciences also shared the alert to amplify safety instructions.
The Atlanta Police Department confirmed it is actively investigating the situation near the 1700 block of Clifton Road. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including local police and the FBI Atlanta, are responding with a large presence at the scene.
