BOWIE COUNTY, Texas — A construction worker tragically lost his life Thursday afternoon in a collision on Interstate 30 involving an 18-wheeler.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, deputies responded around 1 p.m. on August 7 to a serious crash near Mile Marker 190, west of New Boston. Preliminary reports indicate that 21-year-old Braden Tucker was operating a Kubota skid steer and attempting to cross the interstate after working on guardrails in the median when he was struck by an eastbound 18-wheeler.

The impact threw Tucker from the skid steer. He was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing. No additional details have been released at this time.
