It is with great sadness that we share the tragic passing of Lashieka Kapri Samuels, 39, of Flint, Michigan, who lost her life in a devastating crash on Interstate 69 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Thursday morning.
According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, the collision occurred near the Illinois Road interchange when a semitruck struck a Ford Expedition, forcing it into the back of a pickup truck. Lashieka, a passenger in the Ford, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner determined her cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the neck and torso.
Six other occupants of the Expedition were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Allen County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Lashieka Kapri Samuels will be remembered for the life she lived and the love she shared with those around her. Her sudden and heartbreaking loss has left her family, friends, and community in deep mourning. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
