Winston-Salem, NC — Authorities have identified 67-year-old Reginald Carson as the man who was fatally injured late Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on N. Patterson Avenue.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. Investigators say Carson was clinging to a passenger through the window of a southbound vehicle on N. Patterson Avenue when the vehicle slowed down. This caused Carson to lose his grip and fall into the northbound lanes.
Another motorist, who police say did not see Carson in the roadway, struck him, resulting in fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The reason for Carson’s actions remains unclear, and investigators have not released further details regarding the circumstances. No charges have been filed at this time.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing to investigate, and it is not yet known if anyone else was injured in the incident.
