HARTLAND, Vt. — A tragic head-on collision on Vermont Route 12 in Hartland resulted in the death of one man and serious injuries to two others on Saturday afternoon.

Jamison O’Neil, 35, a resident of Hartland, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Toyota RAV4 collided with a GMC Sierra truck driven by 77-year-old Joseph Petrone of Cos Cobb, Connecticut, according to a Vermont State Police news release.

The crash occurred when O’Neil’s vehicle was traveling southbound and Petrone’s truck was heading northbound on Route 12. O’Neil’s cause of death was confirmed at the scene.

Joseph Petrone and his passenger, 76-year-old Angela Petrone, were both transported by ambulance to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries but were reported to be in stable condition.

Emergency responders from the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, Windsor and Hartland fire departments, and Legendary Towing assisted at the scene.

The Vermont State Police continue to investigate the crash and are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has information to contact the Royalton Barracks at 802-234-9933.
