A British family of four, full of promise and hope, tragically lost their lives in a devastating head-on collision while on holiday in Portugal.

Twins Domingos and Afonso, both aged 20, were traveling with their parents, Jose Fale (55) and Maria Joao (51), when their rental car was involved in a fatal crash just hours after being picked up from Faro Airport. The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning on the IP2 motorway near Castro Verde.

The family, originally from Mourão, was heading north from the Algarve region for a summer holiday—an exciting journey filled with dreams and anticipation. Local authorities have confirmed the identities of all four victims and have declared two days of mourning in Mourão to honor their memory.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, Ruben Goncalves from Almodovar, also tragically died in the crash.

This unimaginable loss has left a profound sorrow in the community. Our deepest condolences go out to all affected by this terrible tragedy. May the family’s legacy of love and hope continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.

May the family rest in peace.
