ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A dramatic chain of events unfolded in Rockdale County when a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) trooper attempted to pull over a driver for following too closely. The incident began around 1:25 p.m. on Sigman Road, when the driver, later identified as Jamal Green, 40, of Stockbridge, accelerated and led law enforcement on a pursuit.
Green sped east on Sigman Road, and as he reached the intersection of Sigman Road and Rockbridge Road, he failed to stop at a red light, causing a violent collision with a white F-150 truck. The impact of the crash sent the F-150 rolling over, landing on its roof. However, the chaos didn’t end there—Green’s Crown Victoria then struck a gold F-150 head-on.
After the collision, Green exited his vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, engaging in a physical struggle with the pursuing trooper. However, two good Samaritans quickly came to the trooper’s aid, helping to subdue Green and place him under arrest.
All involved parties were transported to a local hospital with complaints of injuries. Fortunately, GSP officials confirmed that no contact was made between the patrol vehicle and any of the involved vehicles during the incident.
The pursuit, crash, and subsequent fight highlight the dangers of high-speed chases and the unpredictable nature of such confrontations. GSP is continuing their investigation into the events surrounding the incident.
