The Maine State Police are investigating a homicide in Waldoboro after a woman was found dead inside her home over the weekend.
According to authorities, Waldoboro police were called to perform a well-being check at a residence on Genther Road on Saturday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 53-year-old Levern Kelley.
Her remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was conducted on Sunday. Police have confirmed that her death has been ruled a homicide, though the exact cause has not yet been released.
Investigators noted there is no threat to the public at this time. Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
