Authorities have identified 18-year-old Kaleb Williams as the young man tragically killed in a South Side shooting early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 4:37 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Maypole Avenue, according to Chicago police.

Reports indicate that Williams and another 18-year-old became involved in an argument with two individuals inside a vehicle. During the confrontation, the suspects opened fire, striking both young men. Williams sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed.

The condition of the other victim has not been disclosed, and police have yet to release details regarding the suspects or the motive behind the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.

Notably, Williams was killed just three blocks from the site of a recent mass shooting near La Crosse Avenue, though authorities have not confirmed any connection between the two incidents.

The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate and encourages anyone with information to come forward. Williams’ death highlights the ongoing concerns over gun violence in Chicago, particularly involving young victims, and has deeply affected the community.
