Seal Township, OH – On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 7:53 PM, the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a serious injury crash involving a single vehicle on Schuster Road near Taylor Hollow Road.
A maroon 1998 Ford F-150, driven by 54-year-old John R. Short of Piketon, Ohio, was traveling westbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle overcorrected and went off the left side, striking a ditch and a fence before overturning.
Tragically, Short was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Seal Township Fire Department, Portsmouth Ambulance, and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department during the response and investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
