The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run on southbound Interstate 5 in Olympia last month, which claimed the life of 28-year-old Jaden Goodwin.
The tragic incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, just north of Sleater Kinney Road. According to witnesses, Goodwin was lying in one of the two center lanes when a white pickup truck struck him. The driver failed to stop and continued heading south.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Goodwin died from his injuries. The collision caused the interstate to be shut down for approximately two and a half hours.
Investigators have released an image of a white GMC pickup truck believed to be involved and are urging anyone with information to come forward. WSP Trooper John Dattilo stated that detectives have exhausted their initial leads, making public assistance crucial to solving the case.
Anyone with information about the truck or its driver is asked to contact Detective Adam Gruener via email at adam.gruener@wsp.wa.gov or by phone at 253-538-3176.
Family, friends, and the Olympia community are mourning the devastating loss of Jaden Goodwin, remembering him as a cherished soul whose life was tragically cut short.
