The Wichita community is mourning the loss of 42-year-old Tiffany Jones, who tragically died Thursday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of 135th Street West and 29th North, northwest of the city.
Authorities reported that Jones, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving a Dodge Dart when it collided with a southbound Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Outlander, a 26-year-old woman from Maize, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Three children who were passengers in the Outlander were also hospitalized with serious injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that Jones may have failed to yield at the stop sign on 29th Street, causing the collision.
The intersection has a tragic history, as Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputy Sidnee Carter was killed in a crash at the same location nearly three years ago.
Family, friends, and the Wichita community are left grieving the sudden loss of Tiffany Jones, remembering her life cut far too short. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
