Partially Decomposed Body Found in Neshoba County

NESHОBA COUNTY, Miss. — Authorities are investigating after a partially decomposed body was discovered Friday, August 29, on a rural property in Neshoba County.

According to the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene at approximately 1:45 p.m. after a local resident, who was mowing his farm property, came across the body near a woods road. The resident and a neighbor assisted law enforcement during the recovery. The property is located about half a mile west of Highway 15 in the Fork Community.

Officials from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, the Neshoba County Medical Examiner, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations canvassed the area for clues. Preliminary findings suggest the body had been on the property for an extended period, possibly four to six weeks.

The investigation remains active as officials work to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
