Decatur Police Identify Victim in Fatal Saturday Morning Crash

DECATUR, Ala. — The Decatur Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal wreck that occurred early Saturday morning.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 6:24 a.m. at the intersection of Beltline Road SW and Carridale Street SW. When officers, firefighters, and EMS crews arrived, they discovered two vehicles had been involved in the collision.

The driver of one vehicle, identified as Tavoras Antwan Coffman, 40, of Athens, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn. A passenger traveling with Coffman was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Huntsville Hospital by ambulance with injuries that have not yet been specified.

Decatur Police said the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine the cause of the crash.
