FORT VALLEY, Ga— Police are investigating a Saturday evening shooting that left a man dead and marked the city’s second homicide of the year.
According to the Fort Valley Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Hinton Street at approximately 7:44 p.m. in reference to reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located 30-year-old Devonte McMillian lying on the ground, bleeding from his injuries. Officers immediately began CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene.
McMillian was transported to a Macon-area hospital for additional treatment.Where he later succumbed to his injuries
The department’s Criminal Investigations Section, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, responded to the scene and have launched a full investigation. Fort Valley Police Chief Flores confirmed that a person of interest has been identified, though no additional details have been made public at this time.
