JACKSON, Miss – A violent late-night shooting in Jackson claimed the lives of two men and left two others injured, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday on Dogwood Trail. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 48-year-old Roosevelt Denson Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
On Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed a second fatality. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Zacchaeus Daniel Johnson, who succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a local hospital.
According to investigators, three additional victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Two remain hospitalized with gunshot wounds, though their current conditions have not been released.
The Interim Hinds County Coroner, Jeramiah Howard, responded to the scene late Saturday night. Police have not yet shared information on a possible suspect or motive behind the shooting.
This tragic incident adds to a growing list of violent events in Jackson, leaving families and loved ones grieving the sudden loss of life.
