Pontiac Crash Claims Lives of Mother and Two Children, Third Child in Critical Condition

PONTIAC, Mich  — A devastating crash in Pontiac Friday night claimed the lives of a mother and two of her young children, leaving another child critically injured, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Montcalm and Joslyn roads. Investigators say a 21-year-old Pontiac resident driving a 2022 Honda Civic southbound on Joslyn crossed into oncoming traffic, struck several signs and poles, then re-entered the roadway before colliding with a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped at a red light.

The driver of the Malibu, identified as 37-year-old Deniquah, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two children, 6-year-old Dior and 4-year-old Dex, were taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital but later died from their injuries. A third child, age 9, was rushed to Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, where they remain in critical condition.

The Civic’s driver was hospitalized in stable condition. Deputies believe speed played a role in the crash and are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were also factors.

“This unimaginable tragedy has taken the lives of a parent and two young children,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family as they navigate this profound loss.”
