SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A tragic early-morning crash has claimed the life of a teenager and left three others critically injured, officials confirmed.
The collision happened shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 74 and Highway 79 near Laurinburg. Authorities identified the victim as Sydney Strickland, a young woman who had recently begun her college journey.
Family and friends described Sydney as a bright, beautiful soul with limitless potential who was actively pursuing her dreams.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Two victims were airlifted to trauma centers for urgent care, while a third was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital. Their conditions remain critical.
