BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Sandusky Post is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday evening, August 31, 2025, on U.S. Route 6 near State Route 61 in Berlin Township, Erie County.

According to troopers, the crash happened at approximately 8:58 p.m. when a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, driven by 23-year-old Cade Gwynn of Huron, was traveling westbound on US 6. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 23-year-old Andrew Rochleau of Elyria, was heading eastbound on US 6 and attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway.

Investigators say Rochleau failed to yield during the turn, and Gwynn’s motorcycle struck the side of the Malibu. Gwynn was ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rochleau, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the collision. Authorities say alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
